The fortress was as Acropolis (upper city / burg) the top of the Mount, spatially surrounding the Venetian administrative and military unit (including a total of 4 churches), and by its own wall.
Among them, within a second fortification, is Mesa Burgo, the inner castle, formerly venezianisch-griechisch gemischt bewohnt von Handwerkern/Händlern, die der Versorgung der Fortezza dienten und Archontenfamilien (Archonten = griechische Anführer, in der Fachliteratur gerne als 'Adel'- bezeichnet).
Mit der Nähe zur Fortezza wuchsen die Häuser der Einheimischen und die 'Wichtigkeit' ihrer Bewohner.
Ausserdem ist Mesa Burgo voller Kirchen, angeblich 14, kann schon sein, ich habe viele gefunden, aber manche kann man auch nicht auf den ersten Blick als solche erkennen, wegen hohen Alters und kleinen Formats.
